What are Dental Implants ?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed into the jawbone of patients who have lost their natural teeth due to injury, disease, or decay. These dental implants are designed to look and feel just like real teeth and are capable of supporting crowns (caps), bridges, dentures, or even full-mouth reconstruction. Best dentist in gurgoan dental Implants treatment.

The first step in getting a dental implant involves preparing the bone where the implant will be placed. A dentist removes any remaining gum tissue around the area and cleans the bone thoroughly. Next, he drills holes into the bone at specific locations where the implants will go. After drilling, the dentist places a healing cap over each hole and fills them with a special type of cement. Once the cement hardens, the dentist takes impressions of the patient's mouth and sends those to a laboratory to make a custom titanium post. The lab creates a mold of the patient's mouth using a special material called polyether impression material.

Then they cast the mold and send it back to the dentist. The dentist uses the cast to create a model of the patient's mouth. He then fabricates a surgical guide that fits inside the patient's mouth and guides him/her through the surgery. Finally, the dentist makes several small incisions in the gums and inserts the surgical guide into the jawbone. He then carefully separates the soft tissue from the jawbone and opens the space between the two. When the soft tissue heals, the surgeon attaches the titanium posts to the jawbone and covers them with a thin layer of bone graft material. The entire procedure usually takes about four hours and requires only local anesthesia.

Once the surgery is complete, the patient returns home and begins taking antibiotics to prevent infection. The patient may need to wear a splint or bite guard for a few weeks until the bone graft fully integrates with the jawbone. Once the bone graft has healed, the dentist connects the posts to the caps and attaches the caps to the posts. The final step is to place a temporary prosthetic tooth over the top of the implant. Once the patient feels comfortable wearing the temporary tooth, the dentist replaces it with a permanent prosthesis.
